Kaltim Post HQ Office, Samarinda, East Kalimantan

Kaltim Post, a member of Jawa Pos Group, is the largest media group in East Kalimantan. Due to its expansion, they commissioned ADL to design their Headquarters Office in Samarinda. Located along Jln  RE Martadinata facing the grand Mahakam River, the site is strategically positioned on the main thoroughfare into Samarinda City.

The proposed building would provide mainly office spaces, complemented with lifestyle retail and convention center. The lifestyle retail would occupy the first 3 level, then followed with 5 levels of office space and a function hall on the 9th level with a capacity of 500 pax.

The design is inspired by the traditional ‘rumah panggung’ Kalimantan Dayak architecture by elevating the ground level to create a space between the ground and the main activity floors. Traditional ornaments are contemporarily transpired into the building facade. The triangular pen shape as the corporate’s landmark has also been integrated as the main element of the facade, creating a new landmark for Samarinda City as well as maintaining the consistency of Jawa Pos’ corporate branding.
